Dr Nina Shaffie, our multiple award-winning orthodontist, prides herself in offering an extremely high standard of orthodontic treatment in a relaxed and friendly environment. She graduated with Honours from Barts and The London School of Dentistry in 2010.

She continued her training completing a year as a dentist followed by a year as a Maxillofacial Senior House Officer at The Royal London Hospital and The Homerton Hospital, where she gained experience in head and neck, trauma and orthognathic surgery. Following this, she continued work in practice as a dentist and part time teacher at Barts and Then London dental school working as an Honorary Clinical Supervisor in Oral Surgery.

Nina undertook her three year Orthodontic Specialist postgraduate training course at King’s College Hospital, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wexham Park Hospital. She qualified top of her class with a distinction in her Master of Science in Orthodontics and was presented with the prestigious Philip Walther Prize for the most outstanding performance, awarded by King’s College London. She also attained the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Furthermore, she was awarded and selected for a short clinical attachment in the Orthodontic department in Sydney, Australia.

In 2018, Nina was awarded the ‘Best Young Dentist in the South East’ at the very prestigious private dentistry awards for her clinical excellence and commitment to her patients. She has also been a finalist in multiple other dental awards.

Nina is a prominent member of the dental community and a Key Opinion Leader, involved with teaching and training dentists. Her patients include high profile clients and celebrities; with her work having been featured live on the Brit Awards, in magazines such as Vogue and Billboard, and mentioned on BBC News.

Nina has been heavily involved in orthodontic research and audits, and has presented her work at national and international conferences, as well as having papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She is an active member of a number of orthodontic societies both nationally and internationally.

Bristol University was where Martin obtained his first training in general dentistry, and also where he met his future partner Nik when they both qualified in 1995.

He developed a particular interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry and, whilst working full time in general dentistry, he completed a year’s training in advanced cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Martin was then accepted onto the Implant Dentistry Diploma course at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons and was one of a select few from his cohort to be awarded this at the Advanced level. He was subsequently invited to become a tutor there, mentoring other dentists on implant surgery. Many dentists place implants, but few have trained to this level.

Martin has seen how cosmetic dentistry and implants can do wonders for people’s self confidence; quite literally putting the smile back on their face. His greatest satisfaction comes from helping patients to see what it’s possible to achieve and working with them to ensure the best possible result – whether it be a relatively simple procedure or a highly complex multi layered rehabilitation. He recognises that in order for patients to feel relaxed and empowered about their treatment choices, they need to be kept informed and involved at all stages.

A firm believer in the value of continued training and study, Martin attends postgraduate courses on a regular basis in order to ensure he stays abreast of all the latest technology and advances in dentistry. As well as being a member and tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons, he is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology, the International Team in Implantology, the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the British Dental Association.

James Taylor qualified in 1996 in Newcastle and became a senior house officer in restorative dentistry at Leeds Dental Hospital in 1998, where he also completed his MFDS Royal College of Surgeons examinations. His orthodontic training and clinical attachment at Pinderfields Hospital increased his scope further, allowing combined treatment options for patients. Having passed the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry (BARD) exams in aesthetics and restorative dentistry, James continues to complete further training in the USA and Europe in advanced and complex restorative and cosmetic dentistry, dental implant and soft tissue surgery. He is currently undertaking a certificate in Orthodontics and offers all types of orthodontics, including, Invisalign®, cosmetic and lingual orthodontics.

Steve is a GDC registered dental technician with 0ver 28 years dental laboratory experience, and a passion for the life changing service the dental team provide to our patients.Working with skilled technical teams and partners across the world to meet the high standards required by some of the most highly regarded dental surgeons in the UK. 

Steve and his team at Nexus provides solutions for all aspects of restorative dentistry, especially implants utilizing the latest digital and CAD/CAM workflows to optimize quality and maximize the efficient use of precious lab resources.

Over time his passion for dental technology has evolved and intertwined with his love of cutting-edge technology to the point where he found it possible to open and run a fully digital dental laboratory with his team at Nexus Dental in 2015. Since then, the opportunities and challenges keep him very busy.

When not in the lab he will usually be found at a dental event either learning from peers or representing one of the many dental organizations he is fortunate enough to have been invited to work with, including his current roles as President of the Dental Laboratories Association and Executive Committee member for the British Association of Aesthetic Dentistry.
